et sera suivie de questions et de commentaires en deux langues.
Je vais présenter « 2020 : Une année chacun chez soi » au grand public et à la communauté artistique régionale à La Fab sur Mill, coopérative d’artistes et centre d’arts régional situé à Chelsea. Dans l’espace d’exposition, en plus d’accrocher mes dessins originaux sur les murs, je fais installer une reconstitution de mon atelier pour amorcer un dialogue sur le processus créatif. En plus de faire un exposé de ma démarche, je serai dans la galerie tous les jours pour accueillir les visiteurs et les inviter à partager leurs propres réflexions et expériences durant la première année de la pandémie.
Ensemble, tous ces éléments donneront à comprendre ce qui a été vécu d’un point de vue humain. Je vais participer à l’interprétation à long terme de cette année historique en partageant ma vision avec les gens qui viendront me rencontrer dans la galerie de La Fab, puis en faisant don de copies de mon journal d’artiste à des archives : le Centre régional d’archives de l’Outaouais (CRAO) et Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ).
La galerie est ouverte les vendredi, samedi et dimanche de 13h00 à 17h00.
L’artiste sera présent dans la galerie pendant les heures d’ouverture pour accueillir les visiteurs.

When entering the exhibition Gail’s Studio is a Building Site, visitors will find a reconstitution of my studio in the gallery. This will not be a finished exhibition but rather a peek at my studio process that includes my drawings but also my thought process. Amidst original art pieces on the gallery walls and remnants of my creative process on tables, I will be in the gallery at all opening hours to engage visitors in conversations about art making, theirs and mine. My objective will be to create dialogue and exchanges in the social setting of a community space.
My artist’s journal « 2020 : Une année chez soi » was born when the COVID-19 pandemic closed our doors in March 2020. In this project my intention has been to chronicle the first year of the pandemic by collecting media data and by responding to the data with personal writing and original drawings. Motivated by this impulse, for one year I carefully recorded the media information that was available to us. Through my creative drive I sought to understand the forces underlying this unprecedented period and to focus on the human consequences of social distancing and on the increasingly visible cracks in our social support systems.
The gallery is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00.
The artist will be present in the gallery during opening hours to greet visitors.
