Take your pottery practice to the next level in this 6-week intensive course. This class is designed for potters who have the basics and are ready to move beyond simple cylinders into more complex forms and techniques.

Drawing inspiration from traditional Korean pottery as well as modern Western styles, students will learn to control their clay with precision and intent.

Course information

• Language: This class will be held in English.
• Class timing: Friday from 10am to 1pm
• This is a series of six classes starting on November 6. The last class will be held on December 11.
• Please note that the cost of the course includes the necessary clay and access to studio tools.
• The class duration of 3 hours includes 30 minutes to clean-up the studio.
• This class is for individuals 16 years old and up.
• Please bring an apron and wear clothing that can be muddied!

Course outline

Week 1: Precision & Measurement
Focus on throwing to specific dimensions, mastering lidded vessels, and creating identical sets.

Week 2: Trimming & Surface Design
Learn advanced trimming techniques and decorative applications.

Week 3: Altering Forms
Techniques for widening and narrowing shapes to create dynamic silhouettes.

Week 4: Tableware & Independent Study
Focus on flatware (dishes) or receive guided instruction on a personal project.

Week 5: Trimming & Decoration
Second session of trimming and surface decoration.

Week 6: Glazing

Prerequisites

To ensure the best experience for all students, participants must be able to consistently center clay and pull a stable cylinder.
This course is ideal for “Beginner 2” students looking for more variety, or intermediate potters wanting to refine their technique and scale up to larger vessels.

Minimum Participation Policy

A minimum of 4 participants is required to hold the workshop. La Fab reserves the right to cancel the event if there are not enough registrations. In this case, a full refund will be issued.

Refund Policy

Full refund minus a $10 processing fee for cancellations made 7 days or more before the event. No refunds possible for cancellations made within 6 days of the event.

​Yey Eun began her ceramics journey as a hobbyist in Canada, exploring both hand-building and wheel-throwing. Her development led her to an apprenticeship in Korea, where she earned a Korean Ceramic Craftsman’s License. With a unique background that blends Canadian and Korean techniques, she specializes in both functional and sculptural forms, with a current focus on the traditional moon jar. Yey Eun is excited to share her global experience and love for ceramics.
