Join us for a musical ode to the power and beauty of our forests in the Gatineau Hills.
You will hear two new compositions by internationally known, local musicians Carson Becke and Julia MacLaine, both inspired by their deep connections to our landscape. The first is the world premiere of The Sugarbush Suite written in appreciation of the well-loved sugar bush trail at the Gatineau Park Visitors Centre.
Carson Becke will perform his new composition for piano and voice, The Forest: A Symphonic Song Cycle, with Mireille Asselin. The verses included in the song cycle were created by poets from Wakefield and dedicated to the blanket of forest in the Hills.
In addition, Antonin Dvorak: Silent Woods is included in the program.
Reception to follow in the Gallery
