Reid McLachlan: Hymns of Longing

Galerie La Fab / Open to Public
Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays 1 pm to 4 pm
Chelsea painter Reid McLachlan returns to La Fab with a new body of work exploring our relationship with faith, hope and memory and what happens when our confidence in them is shaken.
Much like a fiction writer constructing a story, Reid paints enigmatic open-ended narratives where characters search for connection and understanding while struggling to shed the nostalgic detritus of their past. Theirs is a universe of trickster ravens, uprooted houses, fabricated constellations, unreliable madonnas and other recurring symbols who slyly meddle and heckle from the wings. And through it all wander the timeless themes of love and loss and dreams and regrets; answering to no one but driving the quest.
Luminous and exquisite, these dramatic paintings speak to the capricious and inexplicable nature of the human condition. Today, in a world where everything is polarized and everyone has to be on one side or the other, perhaps it’s good to experience something that ask more questions than it gives answers.
Join us for a double vernissage Saturday, November 8th, 2025 from 1 pm to 4 pm.
