Pottery 2: Building Skill & Confidence on the Wheel

Beginner Level – For students with basic throwing experience

This course is designed for students who have already completed at least one introductory pottery course (min 6 weeks) and are ready to expand their wheel-throwing skills. Building on the fundamentals, you’ll refine your technique, increase consistency, and explore new forms while developing greater control over clay.

What You’ll Learn

  • Centering and pulling with improved efficiency and confidence
  • Creating more complex forms such as taller cylinders, bowls with intention, and simple mugs
  • Introduction to shaping and refining techniques: trimming, adding handles, and basic surface decoration
  • Glazing fundamentals with a focus on achieving predictable results

Prerequisites

Completion of a beginner pottery class or equivalent experience in basic wheel throwing.

Perfect for returning students who want to keep their hands in clay and continue building a strong foundation for future work.

Course information

  • Language: This class will be held in French with but the instructor can speak English.
  • Class timing: Tuesdays from 1pm to 4pm
  • This is a series of six classes starting on January 20th. The last class will be held on Februray 24th.
  • Please note that the cost of the course includes the necessary clay and access to studio tools.
  • The class duration of 3 hours includes 30 minutes to clean-up the studio.
  • This class is for individuals 16 years old and up.
  • Please bring an apron, wear clothing that can be muddied and closed shoes!

Minimum Participation Policy

A minimum of 4 participants is required to hold the workshop. La Fab reserves the right to cancel the event if there are not enough registrations. In this case, a full refund will be issued.

Refund Policy

Full refund minus a $10 processing fee for cancellations made 7 days or more before the event. No refunds possible for cancellations made within 6 days of the event.
