Migration – Beth Shepherd

Dans cette exposition collective, huit artistes-graveurs locaux partagent leurs diverses interprétations de la migration, de l’émerveillement des vastes voyages d’animaux à la dure réalité des migrants contraints de quitter leur foyer avec presque rien, mais aussi l’espoir inhérent à la recherche d’une vie meilleure. Les artistes utilisent une grande variété de formats et de techniques, tous impliquant les arts imprimés : cerfs-volants et bannières suspendus au plafond, valises et sacs de voyage, images austères et subtiles tapissant les murs, et sculptures en papier. Ensemble, les œuvres créent une expérience immersive qui examine les phénomènes de migration.

L’artiste Beth Shepherd présentera un atelier de monotype Trace en utilisant des techniques différentes à chaque atelier (30 avril et 7 mai).

In this group exhibition, eight local printmakers share their diverse interpretations of migration, from the wonder of vast animal journeys, to the harsh reality of migrants forced to leave their homes with only the clothes on their backs, but also the hope inherent in the flight to new possibilities. They do so in a wide variety of formats and techniques all involving printmaking: kites and banners suspended from the ceiling, suitcases and travel bags, stark and subtle imagery lining the walls, and paper sculptures. Together, the works create an immersive experience investigating phenomena of migration.

Artist Beth Shepherd will present a Trace monotype workshop using different techniques at each workshop (April 30th and May 7th).
