Jae Shaw: At Home in Nature

La P’tite Galerie / Open to Public
Monday to Friday, 10 am to 4 pm
Jae Shaw is an artist from Chelsea, Quebec.  Her work celebrates the quiet beauty of nature and our deep connection with it.  Working with a variety of media – including watercolour, oil, acrylic and beadwork – Jae draws her inspiration from the shapes, colours and textures of leaves, rocks and other organic shapes.  Recently, she has been particularly interested in capturing her favorite points of interest and landscapes of Chelsea – scenes that evoke a strong sense of belonging and connection to this unique place where she feels at home.
The At Home in Nature exhibition is a collection of artwork and beadwork that explores the meaning we find in the places and nature around us.  These works invite the viewer to take a closer look at details often overlooked in nature and to form a visual and emotional relationship with the world around us. Other works reflect the spaces where humans and nature meet, inviting us to pay attention to the connections we have with this place, on the edge of wilderness, and the indicators that bring us home.
Jae studied art at the University of Ottawa, The Ottawa School of Arts, St. Lawrence College in Brockville as well as numerous arts centres and workshops. She owned and directed the Oxford Mills Art Centre for 13 years and Art Link for 3 years. She has sold her work and taught adults and children at her Art Centre, North Grenville Township, Nepean Visual Arts Centre, and Upper Canada District School Board. Jae has been a volunteer at La Fab’s Boutique for many years and currently teaches watercolour workshops at La Fab.
Jae has been a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, Art Lending Ottawa, and a Fellow of the Ottawa Watercolour Society. Her work has been exhibited in numerous art galleries and juried exhibitions.  She has also won two awards for her watercolors.
Join us for a double vernissage Saturday, November 8th, 2025 from 1 pm to 4 pm.
